TRAIL SHOPPING, PART I

Trail races typically have a much smaller support network when compared with their road brethren. In my only trail half-marathon, the aid stations were few and far between. While there's a men's restroom practically behind every tree, women's facilities are nearly impossible to find. Thanks for that Y-chromosome, Dad!

So... I decided to stock up on some treats for the race. I purchased some packets of GU Energy Gel in various flavors... Vanilla Bean, Chocolate Outrage, and Orange Burst. I picked Orange Burst because the packaging coordinates with my car. Good call!

I also picked up a pack of Carb Boom because I know Crazy Steph won't use anything else! I had to drive all over Roanoke to find it! OK, the truth is she HATES Carb Boom and the one in the photo was a leftover from the Hatfield-McCoy Marathon.

EWWWW more like CARB BADDDD. You went ALL out on this trail run shopping. I'm not getting new shoes because I have a feeling this will be my first and last trail marathon. I'll be posting on my adventures in trail running from this weekend later today. I"m SOOO far behind in my blogging!! Damn work getting in the way!!!

I'm worried about this one. If my knee is 100%, I'll be fine ... but it probably won't be 100%. I'm hopeful it will be at least 50%. If not, Saturday will be L-O-N-G and painful! I have enough problems ... I don't want to add being poorly equipped to the list.

I hate when work gets in the way! I took tomorrow (Tuesday) off awhile ago, before I realized it was around a holiday. I work in two different places ... where I work on Friday took Friday off, where I work on Monday (today) took Monday off. I finished my work around noon on Thursday ... it's like a five-and-a-half day mini-vacation!
