Congrats! You're making me want to get a Wii but I figure all the marathon traveling and gym membership are more than enough of an investment in my running :)

Airfare just dropped SIGNIFICANTLY for my trip... although I'm not sure where you're running out of. It went from $390 down to $230. Check on Wednesday (they always drop on Wednesday). I don't think there is a time limit because there is an ultra running at the same time and they're expected finish would be about 6-8 hours after our finish anyways... probably more for a trail race.

Hope you can make it! PS. Have you joined the maniacs yet?

The Wii isn't ideal training equipment, at least not for marathons. However, I plan to stick with it for my 50 States (hopefully not more than two more years), just to prove it can be done. Then I'll do actual road work/speed training/hill training and start concerning myself with PRs and, God willing, BQs. Until I drop another 50 pounds, mid-to-low 4 hour finishes are out of the questions. If properly motivated and under ideal weather/course conditions, I can hit sub-5 hours.

I typically fly out of Roanoke, but I think it's more expensive than typical airports. I just hate flying into D.C. and having a several hour drive ahead of me. Roanoke is only about an hour-plus away.

I have to watch my spending, as my oldest son starts college this fall. I've never flown to a race nor stayed in a hotel for a race. I've always camped out in my car. For the sake of posterity, anyone planning on camping out at the Williamson, WV Walmart parking lot, it is very noisy at night. It took the very loud street cleaner three hours to clean the lot!

I didn't think about the concurrent ultras ... any time limit is likely to be long!

I haven't joining maniacs yet, but I've looked over their website. I think I'd qualify for the Dirt level, maybe even Bronze.

I told my husband if he used the x-box 360 &/or PS2 to improve his fitness for a (long) while I'd *think about* letting him get a Wii. We already have 2 game systems, do we really need a 3rd? (No.)

I wish him luck! The only thing the Xbox 360 & PS3 did for me was turn me into a couch potato! The Wii is the cheapest console out there!

Actually... I'm flying out of Dayton into Madison, WI> That's where I found the $230 flight. If you stayed in Cinci you could do the same (thats where I live). Hotels aren't that bad. I got a flight, car, and hotel for like $250?? It was through Travelocity. I found a hotel that was right between the course start and the airport (bout a 20 min drive in either direction). Hope that helps!!! Getting a little nervous about this trail running thing... but I like a challenge!!!

Our PS2 may be on its last leg. I had to reboot/restart it several time the last 2 times I used it before it would play my disk. :(
