DIAGNOSIS: NINTENDONITIS

Well, I saw an orthopedic surgeon today. The tentative diagnosis is tendinitis, so that's a relief. I'm going to start ramping up my workouts slowly and keep popping Motrin for now.

Careful with the Motrin; too much is a bad thing. It does help to a point with inflammation but can actually impair the healing process. Naproxen and Tylenol are good alternatives.

Hope it gets well soon!

Well, the problem with Tylenol is it's analgesic and antipyretic, but not antiinflammatory. I use ibuprofen because it is cheaper, has a more rapid onset, and more readily available than naproxen. BUT ... anyone using ibuprofen (or any NSAID, including naproxen) should use care. I'm taking 1 gram 3-4 times daily, which is a pretty high dose, but I have no intention of staying on it long-term.

If I need something long-term, I'll probably switch to Aleve.
